Our Location

The Leathes Head is in the heart of the Borrowdale Valley. Situated just four miles South of Keswick, it is the perfect base for exploring the valley and the surrounding areas. You can access the mountains from the front door of the hotel or drive a short distance to start some magnificent walks. With superb views across the valley towards Derwentwater and the fells beyond the lake, The Leathes Head really is in a prime location.

Grange Village with its old quaint bridge and views up the lake is only a short walk away. Here you can see the full length of Derwentwater and on those glorious summer days you can sit and take in the view while listening to the sound of fresh running water.

At the end of the Valley lies Honister Pass and its route over to Buttermere and Lorton, where again the road will take you through some amazing scenery. With the mountains coming down to the roadside this really feels like you are in a different world. The whole valley is surrounded by glorious fells, perfect for seasoned walkers with Great Gable, Dale Head and Scafell all within easy reach.

Glaciers carved Borrowdale thousands of years ago into this magnificent Valley that we see today. When you are standing at the top of High Seat looking down the valley, the formations of Borrowdale truly come to life.

Make the most of the quietness and remoteness of this magnificent part of the world. Although you are just a stone’s throw from Keswick, you would think you were situated somewhere very remote and peaceful, miles away from anyone.

Our outdoor seating area is a fantastic spot on those nice warm days to enjoy a drink and take in the views.

Our conservatory is great for those days when you need to be inside whilst admiring the scenery that surrounds hotel.

With one of the most central locations in the valley, access to any of the Lake District attractions or local walks is easy. The location could not be easier to reach. Park your car and you are ready to explore this beautiful area of natural beauty. With so many walks and cycle rides around The Leathes Head you will find it hard not to find something to enjoy here.
