January – The wettest month in the Lake District Calendar
As the dawn of the New Year is upon us, the Leathes Head Team are busy with tidying up the garden and areas of the hotel in preparation for the Spring months. The house still looks outstanding in an array of colours evident as we stroll around the gardens. January is often viewed as a bleak month following the festivities of December, but we have found there is a varied amount of landscape to enjoy during this, the wettest month Borrowdale in the Lake District Calendar. It is not often we have seen the sun recently, but it managed an appearance yesterday and gave us a feel that Spring is just around the corner. Our garden expert, Elizabeth, has been busy in the hotel grounds, clearing leaves and branches from the wind and rain. Those winter jobs that can somehow feel arduous for many, bring satisfaction as we look to plan our herb garden for our Head Chef, Liam’s seasonal menus.
