Keswick is a traditional English market town situated at the top of Derwent Water.
Keswick is a very energetic town with lots on offer throughout the year and a great selection of bars, cafés and restaurants. Visit on a Thursday or Saturday and you can enjoy the local market; it really brings back the feel of the old world Keswick. With cafés lining the streets there is a great vibrancy to the town.
You can stroll through the historic town centre and take in the boutique shops or simply sit back with a coffee, take in the ambiance and enjoy the views. Keswick Theatre offers great entertainment, with shows every night during the season and you can enjoy the fine food on offer as well.
At the Lake shore you can take a boat cruise around Derwent Water with the Keswick Launch Company and hop on and off at any of the stops around the lake. Or simply sit on the cruise and take in the magnificent views from the lake. For the more energetic you can hire your own rowing boat and head out into the lake on your own or simply rent a motor boat.
There is always plenty to do in and around Keswick no matter what the weather. If you simply fancy some food, there's no shortage of choice of restaurants and cafés. Plus Keswick and the surrounding area also contain some great museums. One of the most famous is the ‘Cars of the Stars’ where you can view the cars from your favourite movies. Also enjoy the Pencil factory and Museum where the first ever pencil was made. And don't miss the Honister Slate Mine situated down the Borrowdale Valley from the Leathes Head Hotel, with its slate quarry, shop and museum.
