The Leathes head Hotel is situated just 3 miles south of Keswick in the Borrowdale valley.
What makes this area so appealing, apart form the truly glorious scenery and surroundings is that it is situated just 30 minutes off the main M6 Motorway. It is very easily accessible either by car, train, bus or taxi. For the more energetic, you can bike down the valley to the Hotel where we have plenty of storage and will happily store your bike safely.
Travelling to Borrowdale From The North:
From Scotland and the North of England you head down the M74 which then becomes the M6. At junction 40 signposted Penrith you leave the motorway. Follow signs for the A66 Keswick and follow the road for approx. 20 minutes. When you reach the roundabout at the end signposted Keswick and Borrowdale B5289 take this left. Follow the road till the end then take a left signposted Borrowdale. At the first little roundabout take the right and follow the road till the next roundabout. Here continue straight on till the next roundabout where you take a right signposted Borrowdale B5289. Follow this road for Approx. 3 miles and look out for the Leathes Head Hotel, which is situated on your left. Enter the driveway and follow it till you reach the Hotel Car Park.
Travelling to Borrowdale From The South:
From the south you join the M6 and follow the motorway until you reach junction 40 signpost Penrith. Take the first exit signposted Keswick A66. Follow the signs for the A66 Keswick and this should take you approx. 20 minutes. When you reach the roundabout at the end signposted Keswick and Borrowdale B5289 first left take this turn off. Follow the road till the end then take a left signposted Borrowdale. At the first little roundabout take the right and follow the road till the next roundabout. Here continue straight on till the next roundabout where you take a right signposted Borrowdale B5289. Follow this road for Approx. 3 miles and look out for the Leathes Head Hotel, which is situated on the left. Enter the driveway and follow it up till you reach the Hotel Car Park.
Travelling To Borrowdale By Train:
When taking the train from the North or the South, you take the train to Penrith Station. This Station is one of the major stops for trains running on the West Coast line. When at the station you can either get a taxi to the Hotel, which will take you around 30 minutes through Keswick. Or you can head into Penrith where you are able to catch the X4 or X5 bus that runs from Penrith to Keswick. Once in Keswick you then catch the hourly 78 bus service that runs down the Borrowdale Valley and this will be able to drop you right at the front entrance.
